The passage, priced before departure.
Route options set side by side in fuel, time and carbon, before the ship sails.
01What a plan holds
Everything a passage costs, on one sheet.
- 01Fuel, grade by gradeEach grade on board is planned and shown on its own, never added into one figure.
- 02Day by day, noon to noonThe passage laid out the way a ship lives it, in ship’s time, with clock changes marked.
- 03Weather and current on the trackWhat the sea is expected to do on each day of the passage, and what that does to speed and fuel.
- 04Emission control areasHours inside each area, where the fuel, and its cost, change.
- 05Arrival with fuel to spareFuel remaining on board at arrival, set against your company’s reserve.
- 06Carbon for the passageEmissions worked out from the fuel and its grade, not from a single average.
02Options
Options, not orders.
GE6° sets out the alternatives and what each one costs. The Master’s own route is weighed on the same terms. The choice, and the passage plan, stay on the bridge.
03Questions
Asked before the first voyage.
What is voyage optimization?
Voyage optimization is planning a ship’s route and speed before departure so it arrives when it must, on the least fuel, cost and emissions, within the ship’s safe limits. Each route option is weighed on weather, waves and currents along the track, emission control areas, fuel by grade and arrival time. GE6 Voyage Optimization sets the options side by side, and the choice of route stays with the Master.
When is the plan made?
Before departure, from the voyage you describe: ports, dates, loading condition, fuel on board and the speed you intend.
Can we try another speed?
Yes. Change the speed you intend and the time, fuel and carbon follow, so the trade between them is in view.
Does the plan reach the bridge?
The chosen route can be handed to the bridge, where the Master checks it as part of the passage plan.
Which ships can use it?
Motor ships in international trade. Tell us your ships and we will say plainly what fits.
